Albergo San Giovanni

The Favero family since 1946

The roots of our hotel date back to the late 19th century, when it was a small stopover and refreshment point for workers and hikers, set within the stunning landscape of the Colli Alti hills.

In 1946, Leandro Favero, originally from Pove del Grappa, fell in love with this place and decided to bring Hotel San Giovanni back to life. Together with his wife Concetta and their four children, he started a summer business that would become the heart of a family tradition spanning more than seventy years.

Today, thanks to the dedication of four generations of the Favero family, San Giovanni is a welcoming and modern hotel, where every room has its own private bathroom and the common areas have been expanded to offer maximum comfort. The hotel is open all year round, and every guest is welcomed with warmth and care, as if they were part of our family.

Staying at Hotel San Giovanni means breathing in history, enjoying unforgettable views, and experiencing the genuine hospitality of people who love their home and wish to share it.

Colli Alti

The Colli Alti are the ideal destination for holidays, stays, training courses, sports retreats, or simply moments of celebration and togetherness. A place surrounded by greenery, where nature provides an extraordinary panoramic setting every day.

Here, colors, scents, and flavors change with the seasons, accompanied by genuine hospitality, traditional cuisine, and local products. Numerous trails run through these places rich in memory and history, inviting you to explore the landscape at a pace and fully breathe in its authenticity.

  • Hotel San Giovanni offers around twenty spacious and bright rooms, furnished with elegant handcrafted wooden furniture that combines comfort and warmth. All rooms feature a private bathroom with shower, while some boast panoramic terraces overlooking the surrounding hills, Mount Grappa, the Asiago Plateau, and the Dolomite peaks, including the majestic Pale di San Martino and the Feltrine Dolomites.

Each room is designed to offer a relaxing stay, immersed in a natural setting of extraordinary beauty.

  • At Restaurant San Giovanni, every meal becomes a special experience. Warm wood interiors, soft lighting, and a welcoming family atmosphere create the perfect setting for relaxed dinners or special occasions.

The restaurant features two distinct dining rooms: one intimate and cozy, ideal for quiet moments, and a second, larger Tyrolean-style hall with carved ceilings, a fireplace, and views of the open kitchen and the historic structure of the hotel.

Our cuisine follows the rhythm of the seasons, using carefully selected local ingredients and regional specialties. Fresh herbs, vegetables, mushrooms, and typical products are sourced from local producers, enhancing authenticity and quality in every dish.

We also offer themed dinners by reservation, as well as group dinners, business events, and customized menus. The experience can be completed with a stay at our hotel.

  • Hotel San Giovanni features a small but well-stocked cellar — known in dialect as a caneva — carved directly into the rock and located at the deepest point of the Colli Alti hills. Inside, at a constant temperature of 14°C, more than one hundred labels selected from every region of Italy are preserved. Over the years, Luciano’s passion, embraced and expanded by his sons — now three qualified sommeliers — has transformed the wine list into an ever-evolving heritage: the result of a daily commitment made up of travel, study, tastings, and a genuine love for the world of wine.

At the end of festive occasions, it is tradition to go down to the cellar for the “chiusa”, the final glass that pleasantly seals the gathering.

The caneva is also home to the “Vittime del Sistema”, a lighthearted association founded in the early 1990s and made up of young people from all backgrounds, united by their love of good wine and conviviality. The group’s symbol is an ancient stone turca, still present in the cellar, which today serves as a pouring counter.

  • In the heart of Hotel San Giovanni lies the 1915–1918 Small Museum, a unique collection dedicated to the First World War, open to the public since 1990. It is a special place where history, memory, and local heritage come together in an engaging and fascinating journey.

The museum is located in an area that was the setting of the final and decisive battles of the summer of 1918, when Italian troops managed to halt the enemy’s advance, paving the way to the armistice—making the visit even more meaningful.

The collection was born from the passion of Roberto Favero, a dedicated collector whose work is now continued by his brother Luciano. Over more than thirty years, the museum has gathered hundreds of artifacts from Mount Grappa and the Colli Alti, areas still rich in findings that resurface with the melting snow.

Visitors can admire personal items belonging to soldiers—canteens, flasks, small tools, and handcrafted souvenirs—alongside helmets, uniforms, trench equipment, weapons, bayonets, and an original machine gun. Special attention is given to the Arditi of the IX Assault Unit, key protagonists in the capture of Col Moschin.

Each object tells a story, allowing visitors to experience the lives of soldiers of different nationalities who fought in these mountains.

Throughout the year, the museum hosts collectors’ gatherings and exchange exhibitions, and at the end of June, during the Battle of the Solstice, visitors can attend historical commemorations at Col Moschin.
